Medianserver

DMX512

abbr. digital multiplex.; Standard for digital transmission of signals for lighting controls in the stage area

ARTNET

Ethernet protocol for Transport of DMX data

LAYER

image planes, over which effects in control units (e.g. media servers) are combined (basic concept of the media replay consists of playing of film or photo files on different levels).

ASPECT RATIO

the ratio of the image width to image height (4:3, 16:9, ...)

SLOW MOTION

Slow motion or put another way, the delayed playing of a video film. Better media servers reduce the sudden snap from one video image to the next.

REAL TIME

All playback operations and effects can be launched and adjusted live. They do not need to be calculated beforehand, so they are immediate.

MEDIA FILES

still images, animations, video films, live pictures

SOFT-EDGE

soft edge, putting together several projection images softly to a large overall image, seamlessly and without transition areas.

PIXEL MAPPING

The possibility to control the color and brightness of DMX controllable light sources, arranged in a previously known grid in space, by a video-film. For example, spotlights automatically select the appropriate color to match the movie on the big screen.

KEYSTONE CORRECTION

(keystone effect: oblique projection); digital technique for correction of trapezoidal distortion that provides a sharp, rectangular image. The distortion occurs when the projector is not exactly perpendicular aligned with the screen size. (keystone distortion/ oblique projection)..

GEOMETRY CORRECTION

digital technique for the correction of projected images on cylindrical, spherical or differently curved screens. The correction ensures that the projected images perfectly fit into the screen.

Medianserver

Our experts can demonstrate the advantages in using this innovative technology so artists and clients can decide for themselves whether, and how, our media servers can best be employed.

By "media server" we are referring to a computer system optimally equipped to play all types of media files, including still images, animations, videos and live images.

Choosing the right media server system allows pre-recorded material to be precisely adapted to the conditions of the location and the event, ad hoc and on the fly, providing a fully convincing end result.
